Mr. Tambourine Man (Shatner Spoof) by Mike (2000)

Back in college, I  (Mike Matei) took a class called Sound Design and Technology. The assignment was to learn how to do video effects on an analog editing system.

This was the first time I ever video edited anything in my life. Again, this video was edited ANALOG. Meaning, using VHS tapes. In fact, the same exact VHS tapes were featured in many Cinemassacre videos. Most notably AVGN: Friday the 13th.

STARTREK

Editing analog was very difficult, yet very rewarding once something came out correctly. It was a unique editing experience I look back fondly upon.

Usually when I’ve shown this to people, they think I was only trying to match Shatners lips to the song. True, but that was the smallest element on my mind while making this.

I was mostly trying to capture Shatner’s attitude and charisma, which in some lucky way, I feel like I did.

Keep in mind, this was made 4-5 years before Youtube existed. James and I went to college together, and he also used the same exact analog editing equipment I did when he made “The Feeling of Terror”. Check that out here
