The NEW Cinemassacre.com – 2013

Mike Matei / December 27th, 2012

As the new year approaches, we enter a new chapter and some of us make new year’s resolutions. Times change. We move forward. Just like Cinemassacre.com. We will be launching a new version of the website in time for the New Year’s celebration. (Close to midnight, Eastern time) The new site will keep the same simplicity, but it will load faster, the comment system will work better, it’ll be easier for me to re-feature old videos that you might have missed, and other improvements. Until then, let’s go back to the past and see how far Cinemassacre.com has evolved.

Version 1 (2000-2003)

In the beginning, it was extremely basic. I was on a dialup internet connection and YouTube didn’t exist yet. My movies were still being distributed on VHS tapes. There were no videos on the site. For now, all I had was a written filmography and a gallery of stills to represent my films to the outside world.

Version 2 (2003-2008)

Using new software, the layout got as complicated as I could have ever imagined. I began uploading my movies as quicktime files. Then Youtube happened. The online video age was born!

When the Angry Video Game Nerd took over, he got his own page!

This was the original page for AVGN episodes. Adding new videos was always a technical nightmare!

Version 3 (2008-2010)

As I became more active on the internet, making videos more often, it became very frustrating to keep updating the site. My knowledge (and patience) of web design was put to the ultimate test. I couldn’t take it any longer, so my new web designer Ryan, and Mike Matei, all got together and created the new Cinemassacre.com. Updating the site was now much easier, and there were countless other advancements, such as the ability to leave COMMENTS!

Version 4 (2010-2012)

Another improved version. This time, you could navigate around and find old videos more easily.

Version 5 (2013)
