Status on the film?
Principle photography took place in the Los Angeles area between April 1st and May 13, 2012, meaning everything with the main cast and crew are done. Several pickup shots and entire scenes have been shooting on the East Coast ever since, mainly special effects shots and shots we didn’t have time to get in LA. Editing has also been underway. A rough cut exists, but needs lots of work. There is a ton of VFX work needed, which is just beginning.
How will it be released?
We don’t know yet. We will most likely book some theaters, film festivals and cons to show it at, and then it will eventually come to DVD (and Blu-ray). Many have requested online digital downloads. That is a possibility as well.
Will it be available in the UK, Germany, etc…
Yes, we want it to be available for everyone to see. Even if we can’t guarantee live screenings all around the world, the DVD’s (Blu-rays) will be international.
Will there be a Blu-Ray release?
It was shot in HD, so it makes perfect sense to release it on Blu-Ray. I have no experience in that, so I’m not aware of the technicalities or the cost. As long as it’s manageable when the time comes, we’ll do it. Actually, it would be awesome to release it on Laserdisc, or better yet, CED. I bet we’d have the top selling CED of the year!
When will it be done?
We have no idea. As long as it takes. There’s a lot of work left to do. If I try to guess a date, I’ll only be jinxing myself.
Is there a way the fans can petition to get the movie into major theaters worldwide?
After the movie’s done, I’ll let you know.
What will it be rated?
If it were to be rated, I’d assume it would be R for language.

How long will it be?
According to the script, it will be approximately 2 hours, and the rough cut also reflects that, but until we have a final edit, we are only guessing.
Plot details?
We don’t want to spoil much, but the storyline revolves around the true story of the E.T. Atari 2600 game. Due to poor sales and overproduction, millions of copies of the game were said to have been buried in a desert landfill. It’s earned a reputation as the “worst game of all time” and has been said to be a leading cause of the video game crash of 1983. The 30th anniversary of the game is coming upon us and we just wanted to lampoon the game and celebrate it’s infamy. What better character to be the center of this than the Angry Video Game Nerd?
Why shoot in LA?
I have many friends/ connections there. It rains too much on the East Coast, making filming unpredictable. And we needed to shoot in some specific landscapes.

Will the Nerd review any games in the movie?
The short answer is Yes, but remember it’s a movie. Not a 2 hour AVGN episode. There’s game reviews in it, but that’s not the whole thing.
Why does the Nerd wear thicker glasses in the film?
I decided on slight alterations to the Nerd’s costume to differentiate the movie from the episodes, sort of like on Star Trek where the uniforms in the movies looked different than on the show.
How many nerd shirts were used during filming?
3 and still counting.
How much CG and animatronics will be used?
There is an animatronic character and a “suit” character as well as model vehicles and other cheesy in-camera effects. There will be also be several CG effects. It will have a very campy B-movie feel.
Will Mike Matei be in the movie?
There’s no actual plans for him to be in it, but that’s because I know I don’t have to try. He’ll end up in the movie naturally somehow. I bet it’ll happen.
Will Kyle Justin be in the movie?
We’re going to fit him in somewhere as a nod to the series.
Are the Nerd episodes referenced in the movie? Will we see recurring guest characters? Does the movie treat the episodes as canon, as part of the same universe?
There are some minor references to the Nerd episodes scattered throughout the movie, but there’s no explicit connections. It’s the same way one Nerd episode relates to another. Most episodes can be looked at as their own thing or connected together as anyone pleases. The same with the movie.
Any plans for a sequel?
We’ll have to wait for the first one to get done before we can consider that.
